Centaurus - Process and Documents

This explorable environment, a city which we named Centaurus, was the most ambitious and most successful group project I have undertaken to date. A team of 5 people took 10 weeks to create this environment. My roll on this team was the lead game designer, working with our concept designer to create and balance combat and how combat would work within our environment, technical artist, and sound designer. I also modeled and textured some of the general props, helped manage the team's paperwork and used the housing kit teammate made to create some of the houses.

I am very satisfied with this project, and my team and I hope to continue working on and improving this environment throughout the rest of the school year.

Starting out, I helped create the models like barrels, crates, and candles while our concept designer and I collaborated, drawing up plans for enemies, weapons, abilities, and combat. After completing the textures on the models I made, I began working on technical art, mainly particles and some of the more complicated material systems, as well as helped out with lighting and any engine issues that cropped up. Between working on technical issues and technical art and working on sound design, I happily picked up the slack that my fellow teammates could not work on, such as creating a few more models and textures until the final set dressing pass.

Nearby are a backlog list and a midpoint presentation of our progress.
